Seoul Louis Vuitton Maison
The project is a combination of giant luggages, creating an unexpected sculpture. There are 21 of them, gathered together, and each one is like the room of a luxurious house: Each one embodies the spirit of each universe of the Maison Louis Vuitton.
The sculpture is enveloped by a sumptuous glass wrapping, covered with Vuitton’s drawings: The glass wrapping has a cube shape, except a small extended part on the top, which emerges to cover the café’s terrace.
The glass is linked to the French tradition of the crystal manufacture, like Baccarat, Cristalleries de Saint-Louis, etc.
Facades are like glassworks: The glass panels are joined together with a metallic structural lattice, which is regularly distributed all over the building.
Each panel has a pattern, which reflects the Vuitton’s universe. The pattern is made with a succession of bumps and hollows, made with the curved glass, which designs the different Vuitton’s monograms in a three dimensional way.
Each level is organized with 4 luggages, which are connected together to create four rooms of the “maison”. Each one is approximately 80 sqm, and is connected to the other with one or two generous openings.
Each level is assembled with the other in a rotating way: The result is a beautiful sculpture, at the same time regular and expressive. The giant luggage stacking creates both intimate spaces and interior terraces, which will be covered and protected by the glass envelope.
We have studied the promenades like we could have done for a museum: We wanted to emphasize several ways of travelling in the Maison: regular or irregular, speedy or slowly…The guests can experience the stairs, the satellite room, or the exterior glass-lift, that goes directly from the entrance to the café on the top of the Maison.
The rooms are symbolically like huge luggages, in which the guests enter to live an experience: we have some memories about the wonderful story of “Alice in Wonderland”, where scales are mixed and sometimes Alice has the feeling to be very small in a huge place: the guest could have this feeling, to be like miniatures and experience something in a giant luggage… in www.arquitecturabeta.com
Chevrolet Tru 140S Concept
General Motors has presented the Tru 140S Concept at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, the second concept oriented to a younger client segment. Chevrolet developed, in fact, the four-seat car having in mind the results coming from a recent research of General Motors, pointing out that there are almost 80 million potential customers approaching the age of thirty, a very large segment, with high income and that is looking for a sporty as well as emotional car.
Based off the same platform as the Chevrolet Cruze, Tru 140S comes equipped with the same 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, though with a bit more power, 150 horsepower. The vehicle has been thought as an “affordable exotic” four-seat sporty coupe, designed to look confident, expensive and fast. The designers wanted to include technologies that are usually available in more expensive cars, such as direct injection and a starter-based stop-start technology, balancing internal combustion and electrification to deliver high value and improved fuel economy.
Moreover, the car shows also other features for targeting young customers, like interior connectivity thanks to the integration of Wi-Fi, smart phone and the Chevrolet’s platform My Link. in - www.design42day.com
Tramontana R
The Tramontana R is an evolved version of the standard open-wheel two-seater, packing a Mercedes-sourced 5.5-liter V12 available in either naturally aspirated, 550 hp guise or a twin-turbocharged 760 hp version that dolls out an astonishing 811 lb-ft of torque. The Group claims a 0-100 kph time of 3.6 seconds and a 10.15-second run to 200 kph.
The wheelbase has been shortened by 50mm to improve handling and aerodynamics, and weight is down by 202 pounds to just 2,777 pounds. The R stretches 192 inches from nose to tail, is 82 inches wide and 51 inches tall, and weight distribution is a perfect 50:50 left to right and 42:58 front to rear.
Tramontana fitted 20-inch carbon fiber and magnesium wheels at each corner, along with high-performance summer rubber sized 245/40 in front and 335/30 in the rear. 380mm, six-piston Brembos handle stopping duties, while a custom Ohlins suspension allows the R's ride-height to be adjusted between 85 and 135 mm.
The body speaks for itself, as does the exposed carbon fiber interior, which features a chop-top steering wheel, an LCD instrument panel and the controls to the six-speed sequential gearbox. Production will be limited to 12 units per year with a price tag of €385,000 ($495,000). in - www.design42day.com
Jaguar C-X75
For the last 75 years, innovative design, legendary performance and unprecedented luxury have been the ideals that make Jaguar an icon. The same purity of engineering that defined Jaguar’s past is absolutely reflected in its future. Introducing the C-X75. It is a celebration of three quarters of a century of Jaguar design, looking into the future of automotive technology.
As a Range Extended Electric Vehicle, this supercar pushes the boundaries of both performance and sustainability. It is proof that the most beautiful, fast cars on earth can also be responsible. The C-X75 is today what other luxury cars will strive to be tomorrow.
The C-X75 stays true to the long-held Jaguar design philosophy of natural, flowing lines and simple, elegant forms. What’s more, it proves that Jaguar’s brand values of performance, beauty, and luxury can be upheld while offering innovative, zero tail-pipe emissions motoring and range-extending technologies.
The Jaguar approach to product development has and always will be design-led. Therefore, it is no surprise that when creating the C-X75, an even more emotive design language arose combining contemporary styling with world-class research and engineering.
In this new concept car, Jaguar enthusiasts will identify elements of the great cars of the past. The C-X75’s designers found inspiration in the innovative engineering and functional design elements of cars like the 1950s C-Type and D-Type racers and unique 1966 XJ13 Le Mans prototype. However, the intention was not to dwell on the past, but to embrace these influences and project them onto the future.
Pininfarina Ferrari Sergio Concept
The 2013 Geneva Motor Show was the perfect stage for presenting the new Pininfarina Ferrari Sergio concept car, a futuristic re-elaboration of Ferrari’s glorious past: the name itself is a tribute to one of the most famous Italian car designers, Sergio Pininfarina, who has been linked to Ferrari for a long period of time.
Pininfarina Ferrari Sergio is the concept of a two-seat “small boat”, a model that has always been conceived as a form of expression of one’s passion for driving. The indissoluble link between Pininfarina and Ferrari, born in 1952, has been creating some of the most appreciated sports car in the world, and the actualization of a classical Ferrari model, such as the two-seat small boat, seems the perfect mean to link past and future.
According to Fabio Filippini, design director at Pininfarina, "We were motivated by the spirit of Pininfarina's best sports cars, Ferraris of the '60s and '70s designed under the leadership of Sergio Pininfarina. In particular, the Dino Berlinetta Speciale of 1965, the Ferrari 250 LM, the P5, the Modulo, and the Mythos."
From a technical point of view, performance standards are as follows: 0-62 in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 199 miles per hour, courtesy of Ferrari's 570-horsepower 4.5-liter V8 engine.
It is the design sphere, though, that plays a central role: radical, exclusive simplicity oriented to optimal performance definitely leads the way. This approach is evident thanks to the absence of windshields, compensated by the customized helmets for both driver and passenger.
Together with the unforgettable Ferrari red colour, this Concept car is a celebration of Pininfarina DNA in terms of design: shapes are minimal and morbid but still well defined, and every single part of the car is fruit of a study of aerodynamic, which results in extreme lightness of the whole structure. Distinctive traits of this car are, no doubt: the black longitudinal graft connecting the limber with the posterior part of the body; the car door vertically rotating to facilitate the access and safeguard, at the same time, the maximum rigidity of the structure; the futuristic re-elaboration of beacons which are integrated through a unique transversal transparent element. Last but not least, it is worthwhile mentioning that all the technical parts are concentrated in the dark side of the bodywork, a concept that leaves free every part in red and exalts the purity of Pininfarina style.
